The Headway theme developers have just upped the game yet again with the release of Headway 1.7, currently in beta for developer license holders.
I've been using the Headway theme on my blog for a year now so I'm biased, but this is a huge step up for premium WordPress themes and sees Headway as a true next-generation web design platform.
(Add in the recent announcement that Headway is split-licensed with GPL, meaning it's completely compliant with WordPress's open source requirements, and what's not to love?).
There are a ton of great new features, but I wanted to share the Quick Start Wizard with you. This is a great new addition, and helps new users set up a blog, layout, design and font all from scratch in a matter of minutes. And there's a very cool trick that Headway 1.7 does with your logo/header, to give you the perfect colour scheme for your blog.
Some of the other cool new features include auto-update that transfers CSS and styles, pre-set styles to choose from, column templates and much more, and I'll look at some of these in a future post.
Anyhoo, enjoy the video (viewing in full-screen shows it off better).
Two things though - there are a couple of times when my screen freezes. This is down to me needing to update my Mac software and has nothing to do with Headway (I get it on all Internet use at the minute, meh). And you'll hear my dogs barking two-thirds through - we had a salesperson come to the door.
Yeah, you can tell this is my first screencast, huh?
Enjoy the video, and then check out the Headway theme for yourself. As I mention, 1.7 is in beta for developer license holders, but will be available to everyone soon.
Update. You can see the very cool new Columns feature in Headway 1.7 here.
